Whisky Distilleries near Killin, Perthshire

Edradour Distillery

Edradour Distillery is situated on the hils overlooking the town of Pitlochry - which is a lovley place to make a day trip to from the Killin area. Edradour is single malt whisky, produced in Scotland's smallest distillery. The whisky is hand made as it was 150 years ago; the whisky making equipment in the distillery has remained unchanged since the distillery opened and only 12 casks of whisky are produced each week, making Edradour single malt a rare pleasure.

Dewars World of Whisky

Dewars World of Whisky is found on the outskirts of the town of Aberfeldy - a short distance from the Killin Hotel. At the distillery you can take a guided tour and learn more about the art of how whisky is produced today, and how it was made in the early days.

Castle Menzies

Castle Menzies is a sixteenth century castle which was the seat of the Chiefs of Clan Menzies for over 400 years and importantly situated, it was involved in the turbulant history of the Highlands and here Bonnie Prince Charlie rested on his way to Culloden in 1746. Castle Menzies is open from Easter to mid October from 10.30am - 5pm (Sundays 2 - 5 pm)

Blair Castle

Blair Castle, on the outskirts of Blair Atholl is Scotland’s most visited historic house and the home of the Atholl Highlanders, the only remaining private army in Europe.

A tour of Blair Castle lets you explore some 30 rooms which are steeped in historical artefacts and information. Amongst the most impressive rooms on the tour are the ballroom with its 175 pairs of stag’s antlers and the China Room which displays more than 1700 individual pieces including Coalport and blue Dresden china.

During your stay at the Killin Hotel, take a trip along to Blair castle and enjoy the traditional sound of bagpipes during the summer months. Opening Times from the 1 April to 30 October are 9.30am – 5.30pm every day with the last Castle our admission being at 4.30pm
