Download MapKillin is not only a great central location for activities and outdoor pursuits, it is also one of those parts of Scotland that seems to have something for everyone - simply a lovely part of the world to spend a day or a week in pursuit of the great outdoors.

If you want something relaxed and leisurely, you can explore the great outdoors on board a 4x4, by bicycle or by foot. You can watch the amazing wildlife, play a round of golf, enjoy the stunning scenery or visit a distillery for a wee dram. For something more heart-pumping, you can test your skills at off-road driving and put a Land Rover to the test by driving it over rough terrain and steep, slippery gradients.

Below are some of the activities we can suggest. We have put together some packages for you to book and enjoy. Many activities are also available as an extra when you book accommodation online. We will contact you as soon as possible should an activity be unavailable.

Golf - From the scenic 9 hole course in Killin itself to the more famous Gleneagles, there are several golf courses within easy driving distance.

Walking - Climbing - Scotland is a walkers’ paradise. The spectacular scenery, rugged landscapes and steep mountains call out to be explored and conquered. There are many local walks from Killin, up a gentle mountain, through picturesque glens, or along the old railway track to the head of Loch Tay. Only a few minutes drive takes you to the Tarmachan and Ben Lawers mountain ranges for the more serious hillwalker. Many Munro’s are within easy reach of Killin.

Highland Safaris - Armed with cameras and binoculars explore Europe’s last wilderness on an awe inspiring Scotland mountain tour safari and experience the excitement of the 4WD in a safe environment. Marvel at the scenery in a land steeped in history with breathtaking views and no shortage of photo opportunities. You may even be lucky enough to see the Majestic Red Deer, the Famous Grouse, the elusive Mountain Hare and the soaring Golden Eagle, but most of all the safari will provide a new insight into this amazing natural wilderness and how we can best protect its future.

White Water Rafting - If you’re looking for an adrenaline pumping activity, try white water rafting. You don’t need to have previous experience. You just need to be ready for an adventure. The River Tay is a perfect place to try white water rafting.

Cycle Hire - Discover Highland Perthshire atop your bicycle saddle. It’s a relaxing way to explore Perthshire and admire its dramatic scenery. There are suitable routes for all abilities. Families with young children can cycle leisurely along the disused railway line while seasoned cyclists can take the challenge of the rugged highland roads and tracks.

Canoe and Kayak Hire - Perfect gentle section of the River Lochay next to the hotel feeding into Loch Tay, the scenery is breathtaking.

Deer Stalking - Deer stalking in available in nearby Glen Lochay with a professional stalker by contacting the estate office at Pitcastle Estate, Strathtay - they can offer red deer stalking, hinds and stags and roe deer stalking depending upon season. Distilleries - Scotland is internationally renowned for its whisky. And there’s nowhere better to explore the Scottish whisky history. Dewars Aberfeldy distillery, the Famous Grouse and Edradour, Scotland’s smallest distillery, are all within easy reach.

Castles - Highland Perthshire is awash with history. Visit the historic castles and grand houses in Perthshire and discover the life of days gone by. One of the finest castles in Scotland is Blair Castle, the home of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. It boasts magnificent grounds and intriguing history. Take a guided tour of the attic and uncover the secrets and intrigues in the lives of the people that use to live here.

The Scottish Crannog Centre - Over five thousand years ago, loch-dwellers throughout Scotland and Ireland built houses out in the water for safety and as a status symbol. These building were called Crannogs. The Scottish Trust for Underwater Archaeology has reconstructed these buildings authentically at The Scottish Crannog centre.  Visit the centre and discover why they built the crannogs and experience first-hand how they lived here.

Off Road Driving - Experience real off-road driving and discover what a 4x4 can do in the most challenging environment. Manoeuvre a Land Rover through forest tracks, drive it up almost impossibly steep hills without sliding backwards and control it while driving down hair raising drops. Drive through deep running waters and over sticky mud without stalling. The Highland Off Road driving experience will get your adrenaline pumping.

Fishing - Fishing from our own river bank on the River Lochay is available free of charge to hotel guests from 15th March to 15th September.

Quad Biking - A leisurely variety of terrain including forest tracks, open hill and moorland, and includes plenty of off-road challenges. While the quad machines are great fun to ride in their own right, the location of the treks is the real bonus, with stunning views of the Tay valley and the hills and glens of Highland Perthshire. Adults only.
